The other thing that comes to mind is how much young people hate email these days. So, it's definitely a book for a certain generation.
I haven't finished reading my first Sally Rooney yet. Unfortunately it was recommended to me by a guy I saw for a while, and then, just before I realized what a dud he was, also observed that he used that rec as a pickup line with just about everyone. I was so grossed out, that I never got back to the book. I'll have to overcome my ickiness and read it in spite of his using Rooney as a wingman.
I’ve read just How Should a Person Be? by Heti and really enjoyed it but haven’t tried her other work yet. With Cusk I’ve read the Transit trilogy (which I liked) and Second Place (meh). I haven’t read any Rooney and know one day I will have to reckon with her work, bucket hat or no! Lol!

Thanks for this review! I had been going back and forth about reading this book given its intense presence everywhere but now I’m going to hold off.
Thanks for reading! I think I would only recommend it if you really like Sheila Heti/Rachel Cusk's style, or if you're a Sally Rooney completist.
